An interpretation may begin as a situated and provisional effort to understand. Records allow it to travel to new readers, institutions, and technical systems, often far from the conditions in which it first appeared.
This research asks what happens to authority during that movement. What preserves context? When does repetition begin to resemble certainty? What would keep a durable account genuinely open to response and revision?
